Competitions

More than 14,000 bands annually participate in the world's largest band evaluation festival, the All Japan Band Competition. Culminating with national finals in Tokyo, this dramatic and highly challenging event produces some of the most remarkable performances given to the wind band world. The festival also generates many impressive new compositions and arrangements, from the five efficient and pleasing test pieces commissioned each year to the deliberately profound "open selection" works carefully prepared by each ensemble. These performances are also captured in many of our DVD productions.
